Podgorica committee approves initiative to name street after Slavoljub Šćekić

The Committee for Statute and Regulations of the Podgorica City Assembly has approved an initiative to rename Andrija Lainović Street to Slavoljub Šćekić Street. The proposal honors the late police inspector Slavoljub Šćekić.

The initiative received support from councilors representing Nova Srpska Demokratija, the Democratic Party (Demokrate), the Movement for Podgorica, and the Democratic People's Party (DNP). However, Vladan Arsović, a councilor from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), abstained from the vote.

In addition to the street naming initiative, the committee discussed several other matters, including the management of FK Budućnost, budget replenishment for the current year, and the use of advertising space on city property. The committee also rejected a proposal to increase the green fund and improve environmental protection during the construction of residential and business buildings, following concerns raised by the Chamber of Architects regarding compliance with construction and spatial planning laws.
