Podgorica faces political dysfunction as city officials announce design‑contest winners

Andrija Klikovac, head of the DPS club of experts in the Podgorica Assembly, said the capital is in a deep political and functional crisis. He cited residents’ three‑year complaints about an uncleared street in Donja Gorica, the lack of a city manager for two years, and repeated short‑term appointments of the finance secretary, calling the situation “irresponsible.” Klikovac warned that the city budget for 2025 was submitted with incorrect figures and urged faster administrative reforms before upcoming elections.

The Podgorica municipal administration also released the results of an international competition for the conceptual design of the Zabjelo local centre. The first prize of €35,000 was awarded to the team of Arnel Smajlović and Enna Hadžić from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The second prize of €20,000 went to a Argentine team (Maria Emilia Darricades, Juan Ignacio Miñones, Fernando Nicolas Sabando), and the third prize of €12,000 to a Uruguayan team led by Alejandro Cuadro. Several honorable‑mention projects from Serbia, Indonesia and other countries also received €3,000 each.
