Podgorica officials and Metropolitan Joanikije bless land for new church

Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral, along with Podgorica officials, attended a ceremony in Konik to consecrate land and place a holy cross for the construction of the Saint Basil of Ostrog Temple. The event marks a significant step following a decision made in late 2025 by the Assembly of the Capital City to allocate the land to the Metropolitanate.

The site, located near the Konik health center, has been a focal point for the local community for nearly two decades. Metropolitan Joanikije noted that the temple is being built not only for the current generation but for future descendants. He also referenced the spiritual legacy of his predecessor, Metropolitan Amfilohije, who had previously blessed the location in 2017.
