Podgorica political dispute escalates as opposition decries forced administration plan

Mihailo Anđušić, political director of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and member of Montenegro’s parliament, said that the capital Podgorica and the country will soon witness changes that restore dignity, decency and seriousness after a period of instability under former mayor Iván Vuković. He criticised the parties that have taken power in the city, accusing them of internal conflicts and failing projects.

Andrija Klikovac, head of the DPS club in the city assembly, responded to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić’s endorsement of a coalition with the Democratic People’s Party, calling the proposed forced administration in Podgorica a harmful plan. Klikovac accused Spajić of aligning with the “anti‑European” DPS and urged him to change advisers, noting that the plan had already collapsed.

Both statements reflect growing tension between opposition figures and the ruling coalition over the governance of Podgorica.
