Podgorica residents seek help over persistent noise pollution
Residents in the center of Podgorica are reporting ongoing distress due to persistent noise pollution from a hospitality venue located at the intersection of Njegoševa and Hercegovačka streets. For nearly two months, locals have complained that loud music continues well past midnight, specifically between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM.
Despite multiple inspections and the issuance of various fines by municipal authorities, the noise persists. Residents claim a jurisdictional loop exists where the Administration for Inspection Affairs (UIP) and the Municipal Police shift responsibility to one another, leaving the issue unresolved.
In response, residents have petitioned the Podgorica City Assembly. Assembly President Srđan Perić stated that while the Assembly is not an executive body and cannot issue direct orders to enforcement services, he is communicating with local authorities to find a way to balance the city's commercial needs with the residents' right to peace. He expressed hope for a resolution in the coming weeks.
