Podhale Nowy Targ faces leadership and licensing hurdles
Podhale Nowy Targ is navigating organizational and licensing challenges ahead of the 2026/2027 TAURON Hockey League season. The club is currently without a president after two qualified candidates resigned following a recruitment process initiated by the Nowy Targ Mayor.
To manage immediate affairs, the city has appointed Artur Pustówka, a lawyer and former hockey player, as a proxy. The city administration stated that recruitment for the president position will be resumed soon. Meanwhile, the club is working to finalize its licensing process with the Polish Ice Hockey Federation (PZHL). While Podhale is included in the newly released league schedule, which begins on September 15, its participation remains subject to the successful completion of all licensing procedures.
Once the company's bank account is operational, the licensing fee will be paid to complete the formal requirements. The club is also continuing discussions with players and coaches to ensure sporting preparations proceed alongside administrative restructuring.
