Podlaskie development strategy addresses depopulation risks

Stakeholders, including politicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs, met at the University of Białystok to discuss the updated development strategy for the Podlaskie Voivodeship. A primary concern raised during the consultation was the region's ongoing depopulation, with projections suggesting that by 2050, the number of cattle in the region could double the human population.

To combat socio-economic decline, experts proposed transitioning from a dominant agricultural economy toward an industrial model based on modern technologies, citing post-war Bavaria as a successful precedent for regional transformation.
