Podlaskie Sejmik faces scrutiny over security costs and access

Controversy has emerged regarding the Podlaskie Voivodeship Sejmik sessions held in May and June 2026 in Białystok. During these meetings, which involved debates over a controversial migration pact, residents attempting to attend the public sessions were reportedly blocked by heavy security cordons and additional private security firms.

Regional councillor Rafał Supiński of Law and Justice (PiS) has formally intervened, demanding transparency from Marshal Łukasz Prokorym. Supiński is seeking precise information regarding the total costs incurred for the heightened security measures during these sessions, citing concerns over public access to government proceedings and the use of public funds.
