Podu Iloaiei bicycle lane project faces mismanagement allegations

In Podu Iloaiei, a PNRR-funded project to construct 11 km of bicycle lanes has faced significant mismanagement. The project, valued at 11.5 million lei and executed by the Bogdy Trans SRL-Geo Myke SRL association, reportedly features lanes that are only 1.2 meters wide in areas where the design specified 2.4 meters.

Local authorities have approved 3 million lei in ineligible expenses, a massive increase from the original 72,000 lei estimate. Mayor Ioan Alexa extended the project timeline to meet PNRR deadlines due to missing permits from the Police and National Roads administration. Concerns have been raised regarding the selection of the contractor, which is noted to have performed work on the mayor's own properties.
