Podujeva: 10-year-old injured in accidental AK-47 shooting
A 10-year-old boy was injured in the village of Lladoc, Podujeva, after an AK-47 accidentally discharged. The incident occurred on August 21 when a 13-year-old boy reportedly took the weapon from a cabinet and was manipulating it when it fired.
Police investigations revealed that the homeowner and grandfather, 70-year-old Avdi Jakupi, had left the AK-47 unsecured on top of a cabinet in his son's room. Following an interview by the State Prosecutor, Jakupi was charged with “unauthorized possession, control, or possession of weapons,” though he was released under standard procedure.
During a forensic search of the residence, authorities seized the AK-47, a 20-round magazine, a package of 38 cartridges, three shell casings, and weapon cleaning equipment. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of how the minor accessed the firearm.
