Požega Diocese celebrates 29th anniversary and Cathedral feast

The Požega Diocese celebrated its 29th anniversary and the feast of St. Teresa of Avila, the patron saint of the Cathedral, with a solemn Eucharistic celebration led by Bishop Ivo Martinović on September 27, 2026.

During the mass at the St. Teresa of Avila Cathedral, Bishop Martinović reflected on the history of the diocese, expressing gratitude for its founders and clergy. He emphasized the importance of conversion, humility, and faith expressed through actions for the future of the local church.

The anniversary also marked the opening of the 31st Organ Evenings. The musical series, which connects artistic creativity with spiritual life, commenced with a performance by organist Ivo Mrvelj. The program featured works ranging from the Baroque period to the 20th century, beginning with François Couperin’s ‘Offertoire sur les Grands Jeux’.
