Požega Gymnasium completes 2.66 million euro energy renovation

The Požega Gymnasium has completed a major energy renovation project valued at 2.66 million euros. The initiative, which included co-financing from Požega-Slavonia County, aimed to improve energy efficiency and the quality of the environment for students and staff.

Key upgrades included enhanced thermal protection for exterior walls, ceilings, and floors, as well as the replacement of exterior joinery and the installation of a new sun protection system. The project also integrated a 50 kW photovoltaic module system, an air-to-water heat pump, and energy-efficient interior lighting.

According to technical project managers, these measures are expected to reduce thermal energy consumption by 54 percent, primary energy by 76 percent, and CO2 emissions by 77 percent. The school principal noted that the addition of climate-controlled spaces will significantly improve working and learning conditions while reducing long-term heating and electricity costs.
