Požega-Slavonia County SDP demands accountability over missing funds

The SDP councilors in Požega-Slavonia County are demanding political accountability from County Prefect Antonija Jozić following the disappearance of several hundred thousand euros from the county budget. Three months after the fraud was initially reported, the public remains uninformed regarding the exact amount lost, the recipient of the funds, or the intended recipient.

SDP representatives claim that parliamentary inquiries sent by Martina Vlašić Iljkić to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and the ministers of justice, finance, and internal affairs have gone unanswered. The party has accused Plenković of personally protecting the Prefect. While Jozić has cited the secrecy of the ongoing investigation as the reason for withholding details, critics argue that the semi-annual report failed to mention the incident, suggesting a lack of transparency.

In addition to the financial investigation, local representatives are raising concerns regarding delayed tenders for entrepreneurs and farmers, waste management issues in Kutjevo, and the need for increased wages for teaching assistants.
