Poet Lulzim Tafa addresses the Parliament of Paraguay

Poet Lulzim Tafa delivered a speech at the Parliament of Paraguay, addressing Speaker Raul Luis Latorre Martinez, Vice President Hugo Joel Meza, and other officials. During his visit to the country, Tafa was also honored as an “Honorary Citizen of Asuncion.”

In his address, Tafa praised the strength and influence of Latin American literature, specifically noting his affinity for magical realism. He described how the genre allows the extraordinary and the ordinary to coexist naturally. Tafa highlighted the lyrical quality of Paraguayan prose, noting its poetic rhythm and philosophical depth, which he believes contributes to its popularity among European readers.
