Poet M. Hüseyin Şehriyar commemorated in Iğdır

Iğdır University and the Karakoyunlu Ata Ocağı organized a commemoration and poetry program to honor the renowned poet M. Hüseyin Şehriyar. The event was attended by various officials, including Iğdır University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel, Karakoyunlu District Governor İlhan Kayaş, and Mayor Bayram Ali Ballı, as well as representatives from the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Kars.

During the program, speakers emphasized Şehriyar’s role as a collective memory and a powerful voice for the vast Turkish geography, spanning from Edirne to Kashgar. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel noted that honoring the poet signifies a commitment to the Turkish language, cultural heritage, and shared values. District Governor İlhan Kayaş added that preserving these common cultural assets for future generations is a significant responsibility.

The event included a discussion session where participants analyzed Şehriyar’s literary personality, his works, and his unique contributions to the Turkish language and the broader Turkish world.
