Poet Tony Joubert presents literary works to President Herminie

Poet Tony ‘Raspyek’ Joubert presented his latest book, ‘Verses in Dialogue’, to Seychelles President Dr Patrick Herminie at State House. The collection commemorates 38 years of poetry writing and 25 years of public recitals.

The work is written in Seychelles Creole, French, and English, reflecting the nation’s multilingual heritage while addressing social issues and the lived experiences of the Seychellois people. During the meeting, President Herminie, who also authored ‘A Path to Utopia’, commended Joubert for his role in enriching the country’s cultural and literary heritage.

Joubert, a founding member of the Bling Bling Poetry Association and a key organizer of the 2017 Bling Bling Nod poetry festival, discussed his creative journey from his childhood in Takamaka. The President emphasized the importance of artists in preserving national identity and giving voice to the people.
