Garlasco murder case: New DNA data sent to Milan prosecutors

The investigation into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco has entered a complex new phase. The Pavia Prosecutor's Office has transferred new case files and raw DNA data from Parma to the Milan General Prosecutor's Office. This move is intended to facilitate an evaluation of a potential request to revise the definitive sentence of Alberto Stasi, who is currently serving a 16-year prison term for the crime.

Andrea Sempio, a person of interest in a new investigation, has publicly contested the evidence against him. In recent media appearances, Sempio has specifically challenged the validity of 'imprint 33'—a handprint found on a wall—noting the absence of blood on the trace. He also disputed forensic expert Cristina Cattaneo's findings regarding the compatibility of his foot with a bloody footprint found at the scene, maintaining that he has always worn a size 44.

Meanwhile, Alberto Stasi's defense team, led by lawyer Giada Bocellari, has announced they possess additional evidence that could be significant, though they noted it does not pertain to the original 2007 investigation files. The legal proceedings remain ongoing as authorities analyze the technical data to determine if the evidentiary framework warrants a trial for Sempio or a judicial review for Stasi.
