Poggibonsi opens Archeodromo medieval village museum

The Archeodromo has officially opened in Poggibonsi, located on the Poggio Imperiale hill in the province of Siena. This large-scale outdoor archaeological museum features a full-scale reconstruction of a Carolingian village dating from the 9th to 10th centuries.

The project is based on archaeological findings by the University of Siena and represents a collaboration between the Municipality of Poggibonsi, the University, and various professional associations. The site aims to combine scientific research with experimental archaeology and public education, allowing visitors to experience daily life, ancient trades, and historical customs through guided tours by specialists in period clothing.

The inauguration on October 22 was attended by regional and local officials, including the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, and the Mayor of Poggibonsi, Susanna Cenni. The facility is described as a significant development for local culture and tourism, serving as a bridge between the region's historical roots and its future growth.
