Poggio Renatico animal rights group files complaint over missing cats

The Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment (Aidaa) has filed a formal complaint with the Ferrara Prosecutor's Office following the disappearance of approximately ten cats in Poggio Renatico.

Volunteers from the Gruppo Idea Animalista reported that the animals vanished between July and August in a neighborhood comprising Borsellino, Nassiriya, and Pertini streets. Animal rights activists are requesting an investigation into several possibilities, including mass poisoning—potentially via poisoned baits intended for wolves—or the presence of individuals targeting animals for illegal content on the dark web.

While acknowledging that some theories may be remote, advocates are urging authorities to investigate all potential causes behind the unusual disappearance of the pets.
