Poggioreale launches cultural itinerary to promote local heritage

Approximately 200 people attended the inaugural event of ‘Poggioreale- Memoria viva e futuro identitario’, a cultural itinerary designed to promote the historical, cultural, and agroalimentary heritage of the region. The free tour, organized by Associazione Freedom with support from the Sicilian Department of Cultural Heritage and Identity and the Municipality of Poggioreale, allowed participants to visit the historic sites of Poggioreale and the Agora.

To facilitate exploration, informative plaques with QR codes in both Italian and English were provided. The event featured local food tastings and a video mapping display by Datio Denso Andriolo, which projected narratives onto the architecture of the old city, areas impacted by the 1968 earthquake. The evening included musical performances by the Accademia Pas of Palermo.

A second tour is scheduled for September 13, which will include participants from Castelvetrano and Palermo and conclude with a performance by the Sicily Orchestra titled ‘Cinema in musica, omaggio ad Ennio Morricone’ in Piazza Elimo.
