Pohang attracts 120,000 tourists during Chuseok holiday
Pohang saw a significant influx of approximately 120,000 tourists during the four-day Chuseok holiday period from September 24 to 27. This resulted in an average daily visitor count of 30,000, boosting local commerce and tourism sectors.
Key attractions included the Space Walk, Yeongildae Beach, Homigot, and Guryongpo. Visitors also frequented cultural and natural sites such as Bogyeongsa and Oeas Temple. The popularity of K-drama filming locations, specifically sites from ‘When the Camellia Blooms’ and ‘My Perfect Secretary’, drew both domestic and international travelers.
To encourage stay-over tourism, Pohang collaborated with private travel platforms such as NOL (formerly Yanolja) and Yeogiotte to offer accommodation discounts. These promotions provided 20,000 KRW off stays over 50,000 KRW and 40,000 KRW off pensions or pool villas over 100,000 KRW.
Mayor Park Yong-sun stated that the holiday served as an opportunity to showcase the city's natural, cultural, and marine tourism charms, expressing a commitment to developing unique content to establish Pohang as a destination where visitors wish to stay longer.
