Pohang City bids to host 2028 World Manufacturing Forum

Pohang City, South Korea, has launched an official campaign to host the 2028 World Manufacturing Forum (WMF) in the region. A city delegation recently traveled to Milan, Italy, to engage with the WMF Foundation and various local institutions during the 2026 forum held at the Borsa Italiana headquarters.

The delegation met with key figures from the WMF Foundation, including Academic Chair Marco Taishi and COO Rosa Piròchi, as well as representatives from the Lombardy regional government and local industrial organizations. During these meetings, Pohang officials highlighted the city's transition toward a low-carbon steel industry and promoted its upcoming MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure, specifically the Pohang International Exhibition and Convention Center (POEX), scheduled to open in 2027.

The WMF is a global platform established by the Politecnico di Milano that brings together governments, corporations, and academics to discuss the future of manufacturing and produce global policy reports.
