Pohde wellbeing services county announces 302 layoffs

The North Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county, Pohde, has concluded co-operation negotiations resulting in the layoff of 302 employees. Among those affected are 134 staff members involved in patient and client work.

Representatives from the SuPer union noted that this outcome is exceptional, as it marks the first time in a series of nearly fifty negotiations where alternative employment has not been offered to the staff. The union expressed concerns that the reduction in personnel, combined with existing high workloads, threatens both patient safety and the occupational safety of remaining staff.

Union officials warned that the intended savings could be undermined if the increased burden on remaining employees leads to unsustainable working conditions and decreased service availability.
