Poiatica landfill: Unione dei Comuni President denies decisions made

Emanuele Ferrari, President of the Unione dei Comuni dell'Appennino, has addressed the ongoing debate regarding the Poiatica landfill. Responding to heated discussions, Ferrari stated that no final decisions have been made and criticized the use of simplistic slogans that hinder constructive dialogue.

He clarified that discussions among local mayors have been ongoing for months and that no project has been presented to the public behind their backs. Ferrari noted that the administration began examining the landfill due to rapid environmental changes, including climate change and territorial fragility, which necessitate extraordinary maintenance despite the site having been closed to waste disposal for a decade.
