Point Alpha and Rhön region host historical excursions

Local groups in Germany organized excursions to the Rhön region to explore historical sites related to the Cold War and the former inner-German border.

Members of SPD Niederdorfelden visited the Point Alpha memorial to learn about its significance during the Cold War, followed by a nature walk through the Rotes Moor high moor.

Additionally, the Point Alpha Support Association (Förderverein Point Alpha e. V.) conducted a hike toward the Alte Buchenmühle, located on the former border between Hesse and Thuringia. The group visited historical landmarks, including the Mansbach radio control center, which played a role during the Berlin Blockade. Participants also heard personal accounts regarding life during the German division.
