Pointe-aux-Outardes offers natural marine clay spa experiences
Visitors to the Côte-Nord region in Quebec can experience a natural spa treatment using marine clay at Saint-Ludger Bay in Pointe-aux-Outardes, located near Baie-Comeau. This free activity allows people to apply the mineral-rich clay to their skin.
The Manicouagan marine clay has a unique geological origin dating back approximately 214 million years to a massive meteorite impact that transformed the Canadian Shield. The clay was further shaped by glaciations and the subsequent retreat of the Goldthwait Sea about 12,000 years ago, eventually depositing along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River.
