Pointe-Lebel launches regional stray cat sterilization campaign
The municipality of Pointe-Lebel is launching a regional stray cat sterilization campaign on August 24 and 25, marking the first time a municipality on the Côte-Nord has utilized the services of the SPA Mobile du Québec for such an initiative.
The project involves a collaborative effort between the City of Forestville, the Chapitou refuge, and the organization Mission Pattes Solidaires. Forestville is providing financial support to Mission Pattes Solidaires, whose members will assist with field logistics, including locating colonies and managing the trapping and transport of cats to sterilization sites.
Local officials noted that the presence of coyotes near the municipality has recently contributed to a decrease in the stray cat population. The primary goal of the partnership is to maximize the number of cats sterilized during the scheduled campaign.
