Pointe-Noire hosts Congo's first LNG fuel station

The Minister of Hydrocarbons, Stev Simplice Onanga, inaugurated the Republic of the Congo’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) retail distribution station in Pointe-Noire on September 19. Located on Avenue Ma-Loango near the Autonomous Port of Pointe-Noire, the facility was established by the Southerpec group and its subsidiaries, including Wing Wah and SCI (Société sino-congolaise d’investissement).

The multi-energy station is designed to serve both conventional and alternative fuels, dispensing LNG, diesel, and petrol. It features a storage capacity of approximately 46 tonnes of LNG, 96 tonnes of diesel, and 28 tonnes of petrol. The infrastructure is equipped to handle 14 vehicles simultaneously, with a gas filling time of less than four minutes.

This project aligns with government policy to modernize the hydrocarbon sector and expand fuel distribution across the national territory. Following the launch in Pointe-Noire, plans are in place to deploy similar stations in Dolisie, Brazzaville, and Oyo.
