Pojedynek thriller to stream on Canal+ from August 29

The Polish thriller “Pojedynek,” directed by Łukasz Palkowski, will be available for streaming on Canal+ starting August 29. Based on true events from World War II, the film depicts a psychological battle set in Soviet prisoner-of-war camps following the invasion of Poland in September 1939.

The narrative centers on a confrontation between Karol Grabowski, a world-renowned pianist played by Jakub Gierszał, and Major Vasiliy Zarubin, a ruthless NKVD agent portrayed by Aidan Gillen. The conflict focuses on Zarubin’s attempt to use propaganda and psychological manipulation to break the morale of the prisoners by winning over Grabowski, who serves as an authority figure among the captives.

The film features an ensemble cast including Tomasz Kot, Bogusław Linda, Antoni Pawlicki, and Julia Pietruch. Pietruch portrays Janina Lewandowska, the only woman recorded to have been executed during the Katyn massacre.
