Pokémon marks 30th anniversary with new Pikachu plush and global TCG expansion
The Pokémon Company has released a retro‑style Pikachu plush to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The monochrome, pixel‑inspired plush, priced at $29.99 (with a matching key chain at $12.99), was first launched in Japan and is now available through the Pokémon Center, though stock has quickly sold out in the United States and Australia.
In parallel, the company announced the Pokémon TCG “30th Celebration” expansion, set for a coordinated worldwide launch on 16 September 2026. The set features all‑foil cards, a new “Futuristic rare” rarity illustrated by Yoshirotten, 30 unique foil Pikachu cards by different artists, and the return of classic cards with fresh foil treatments. Additional promotional events are planned across several Asian locations, including Kuala Lumpur.
These releases form part of a broader anniversary programme that also includes themed merchandise, clothing and other exclusive items.
