Pokémon and Not A Hotel to open Poké Ball-shaped hotel in Japan
Pokémon and the hospitality firm Not A Hotel are collaborating to open a human-sized, Poké Ball-shaped hotel in Tomakomai City, located on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. The project celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise and the third anniversary of the Pokémon Sleep application.
The structure is a three-meter diameter sphere constructed from moulded acrylic hemispheres, featuring a sliding door for privacy and a curved acrylic window designed to provide views of the surrounding lakeshore. The interior follows a circular theme, centered around a round mattress. Guests can use an iPad to control the room's lighting, allowing them to adjust colors to match specific Pokémon.
To mark the occasion, a lottery will be held for adult residents of Japan who actively use the Pokémon Sleep app. Ten winners will receive a free stay in October 2026.
