Pokémon Bank to end service on February 25, 2027
The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Bank, the long-standing storage service for the Nintendo 3DS, will officially end its service on February 25, 2027. This closure will also terminate the ability to transfer Pokémon from the Bank to Pokémon HOME, the current ecosystem for Nintendo Switch and mobile users.
This shutdown poses a significant challenge for collectors and long-term players. Once the service ends, Pokémon residing in older titles will be unable to reach modern consoles. Certain rare species, forms, and event-exclusive Pokémon—such as Spinda, Victini, and specific Shiny variants—may become effectively unobtainable through official digital channels.
To prevent permanent data loss, players are urged to migrate their digital collections to Pokémon HOME before the deadline. As a transitional measure, Pokémon HOME is expected to gain compatibility with Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen versions in October 2026, allowing players to complete certain Pokédex entries and receive rewards like the Mythical Pokémon Celebi.
