Pokémon card designed by child sells for $156,000

A rare Pokémon card designed by Megu Taniguchi has sold for $156,000 at auction. The card was originally created 16 years ago when Taniguchi was six years old as part of a competition held by The Pokémon Company to promote the film ‘Zoroark: Master of Illusions’ in Japan.

The artwork, which features a red bus containing a person, a Zorua, and a Pikachu, was one of the winning entries. While the exact number of printed copies is unknown, it is estimated that fewer than 100 were produced. The specific card sold via Fanatics Collect was graded as ‘BGS 10’ in nearly perfect ‘Pristine’ condition, attracting 38 bids during the sale.
