Pokémon celebrates 30 years with new GO festival and cultural events

The Pokémon franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, highlighted by cultural discussions at the Bon Odori Japanese Culture Festival. Experts noted the brand's longevity is driven by its accessibility across various platforms, including anime, films, and multiple gaming consoles.

In the mobile gaming sector, Pokémon GO has announced the ‘Pokémon GO Festival 2026: Megafinal’ taking place in Brazil on September 5 and 6. The event features the return of the rare Armored Mewtwo and introduces new mechanics for Mega Evolutions, such as specialized moves for Mega MewtwoX and Mega MewtwoY, as well as additional Charged Attacks for Pokémon that reach Super Max Level.
