Pokémon GO announces Armored Mewtwo return for Mega Finale event
Pokémon GO will host the ‘Mega Finale’ event on September 5 and 6, 2026, featuring the return of Armored Mewtwo in five-star raids. This marks the first time the rare variant has appeared in the game since 2020. Developers have confirmed that a shiny version of Armored Mewtwo will not be available during this window.
The event introduces significant gameplay updates, including the ‘Super Max Mega Level’ for certain Pokémon. This allows eligible Mega Evolutions, such as Mega Mewtwo X and Y, to use a third Charged Attack. These new moves also provide unique field effects; for example, Mega Mewtwo Y can reveal if an encountered Pokémon has three stars or more.
Following the Mega Finale, the ‘Mega Squads’ event will run from September 8 to September 14, 2026. This period will introduce the Pokémon Maschiff and Mabosstiff, debut the shiny Flamigo, and feature Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom in raids. Additionally, the ‘Twilight Trails’ season will launch, focusing on Ghost and Dark-type Pokémon and introducing new Mega Evolutions like Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure.
