Pokémon GO announces Mega Squads event and new evolution mechanics

Pokémon GO is introducing several updates and upcoming events for players. The Mega Squads event, running from September 8 to 14, introduces the Super Max level for Mega-Beedrill and Mega-Houndoom. Players can reach this new power ceiling by achieving the third standard megaevolution level and using specific Mega Energy. This advancement unlocks additional charged attacks, such as Lethal Sting+ for Mega-Beedrill and Dark Pulse+ for Mega-Houndoom.

The event also features the debut of Maschiff and its evolution Mabosstiff, which can be obtained through eggs, field research, or the GO Pass.

Looking ahead to October 2026, the game will feature the Twilight Paths Season. The October GO Pass will be available from October 6 to November 3, offering players the chance to capture the legendary Pokémon Kyogre upon reaching level 100. Various promotional codes are also expected to provide rewards such as berries, Poké Balls, and exclusive items.
