Pokémon GO Marks 10‑Year Anniversary with Global Event and New Moves
Nina‑July 4 at 10:00 UTC until July 6 at 20:00 UTC, Pokémon GO runs a worldwide 10th‑anniversary event. Players who catch Pokémon during the period receive four times the usual catch experience points and stardust, while the shiny‑rate for several featured Pokémon – such as Pikachu wearing a cake hat, Eevee with a party hat and other event‑specific creatures – is increased.
The event also offers exclusive attack moves for the three Kanto starter evolutions: Hard Plant for Bisaflor, Blast Burn for Glurak and Hydro Cannon for Turtok. In Japan’s version, evolving the starters during the event lets the resulting Pokémon learn those moves directly, and a Mega‑Evolved Charizard Y with the Blast Burn attack can be obtained by evolving a specific Charizard. Additionally, players can capture the special Ghost‑type event Pokémon Gierspenst (or its equivalent) which may appear with a unique background and a chance to be shiny.
