Pokémon: Indigo League begins streaming on Disney+

The first season of the Pokémon anime, known as the Indigo League arc, has begun streaming on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States. The initial release includes approximately 27 episodes, rather than the full arc of roughly 80 episodes. Disney and The Pokémon Company have indicated that more of the franchise catalog will be added in stages.

This arrangement is a distribution deal for U.S. broadcast and streaming rights held by Disney Branded Television; Disney does not own the Pokémon franchise, which remains a joint venture between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures.

Viewers in the U.S. can still access Pokémon content through other platforms, as Netflix continues to host various series, including the first 52 episodes of the original series. Additionally, the official Pokémon YouTube channel offers the first nine seasons for free.
