Pokémon Pokopia wins Grand Award at Japan Game Awards 2026

The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) has announced the winners of the Japan Game Awards 2026. Pokémon Pokopia, developed by The Pokémon Company, received the Grand Award in the Annual Work category. Described as a slow-life sandbox game that allows players to interact with Pokémon in a world synchronized with real time, the title received widespread support from voters aged 5 to 79.

Other major winners include Capcom’s Pragmata, which earned the Breakthrough Award for its unique fusion of puzzle and action elements, and Meccha Chameleon by LEMORION, which received the Movement Award after selling over 20 million copies worldwide.

Additional honors were distributed across several categories: the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award went to Pokémon, the Game Designers Award was presented to Wordplay (Team9), and a Special Award was given to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. A total of 12 other titles received excellence awards.
