Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary: Survey reveals grading trends and lottery win rate disparities

A survey by Treca Pro Co., Ltd. regarding the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game ‘30th Celebration’ release reveals significant trends in collector behavior and lottery outcomes.

Regarding card preservation, 75.3% of respondents with experience in PSA third-party grading expressed intent to submit high-rarity ‘FUR/SAR’ cards for authentication, compared to only 37.7% of those without prior experience. Overall, interest in grading was split nearly evenly, with 47.5% intending to use the service and 52.5% not.

Analysis of lottery results for the 30th-anniversary products shows a wide disparity in win rates depending on the retailer. Among stores with at least 20 reported outcomes, win rates ranged from a high of 75% at Joushin (app) to a low of 14% at Hobby Station. Additionally, win rates varied by product, with the ‘Starter Card Set’ seeing a 71% success rate while the ‘Premium Deck Set’ sat at 39%.

Most lottery results for the September 16 release are expected to be announced by September 15, with 693 scheduled announcements occurring before the official launch date.
