Pokémon XP convention reveals new animated series and franchise history

At the Pokémon XP convention in San Francisco, The Pokémon Company shared updates regarding the franchise's history and upcoming media. Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokémon Company, reflected on the 30-year history of the brand, discussing the technical challenges of the original Game Boy development, such as memory limitations and the implementation of the Link Cable system. Ishihara also noted the franchise's expansion through video games, trading cards, and anime.

Additionally, a trailer and exclusive images were revealed for a new stop-motion style animated series titled ‘Pokémon Stories: The Adventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu’. Produced by Aardman Animations, the series will focus on the adventures of the Pokémon Sirfetch’d and Pichu in the Galar region without the appearance of human characters. The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
