Pol Espargaró to substitute for Maverick Viñales at Austrian MotoGP

Pol Espargaró will once again substitute for the injured Maverick Viñales at the upcoming MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix held at the Red Bull Ring. This marks Espargaró’s fourth consecutive appearance as a replacement for the Tech3 KTM rider, who has been sidelined since the German Grand Prix in July.

Tech3 team manager Nicolas Goyon expressed confidence in Espargaró, noting that the KTM test and reserve rider appears increasingly comfortable and competitive with each outing. Espargaró, who recently secured a 12th-place finish at the San Marino Grand Prix, will compete alongside teammate Pedro Acosta during this home race for the KTM manufacturer.

The team remains focused on supporting Viñales’ recovery, with hopes that he will be fit to return to the grid for the upcoming Asian leg of the tour, starting with the Japanese Grand Prix in October.
