Polakis urges SYRIZA leader Famelos to seal Tsipras deal within 10 days

SYRIZA MP Paulos Polakis warned party president Sokratis Famelos that he must reach a political agreement with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras and the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) within ten days, or face internal consequences. Polakis said there is “no historical precedent for a party president to say he supports another party without a negotiated agreement” and threatened a new discussion in the party’s political bureau and central committee if no deal is secured.

He also criticised the current SYRIZA leadership for lacking responsibility and called for a program‑based coalition with progressive forces such as ELAS, NEA, MERA 25, KKE and others to challenge the Mitsotakis government. His statements included proposals for a new security architecture with Russia, wage increases, public‑utility reforms and other policy measures.
