Poland: 147 drownings reported since June 1
Polish police and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration have issued an urgent appeal for caution following the deaths of two people in the last 24 hours. Since June 1, a total of 147 drowning fatalities have been recorded in the country.
Authorities are reminding the public to avoid swimming under the influence of alcohol, to only use safe, designated bathing areas, and to never jump into water of unknown depth. They emphasize that children must always be supervised by adults.
In the event of a drowning, officials advise calling 112 immediately and attempting to reach the victim using floating objects like balls or mattresses. Rescuers recommend performing CPR consisting of 30 chest compressions followed by two breaths if the victim is unresponsive and not breathing.
