Poland: 51% Reject Conscription Revival, 77% Favor Mandatory Military Training

A July 10‑11, 2026 IBRiS poll commissioned by Rzeczpospolita surveyed 1,067 Polish adults about reinstating mandatory conscription. 51.1% of respondents opposed bringing back compulsory military service, 37.7% supported it and 11.2% were undecided. Opposition cuts across political lines – non‑voters (56%), opposition supporters (50%) and governing‑coalition voters (49%) all expressed negative views. The demographic groups most likely to oppose are women (54%), people in their thirties (65%), residents of large cities (59%) and small towns (58%), and those with higher education (60%). Centrists (59%) and those whose news comes mainly from social media (57%) also show the strongest resistance.

In contrast, 76.6% of Poles back mandatory military training for both women and men, while 17.6% oppose and 5.8% have no opinion. Support for training is strongest among voters for the coalition government led by Donald Tusk (85%), men (87%), people in their forties (84%), residents of small towns (86%) and those with secondary education (83%). Left‑leaning respondents also show high approval (83%).
