Poland launches 1 billion PLN subsidy program for home energy storage

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) has launched a new subsidy program titled ‘Przydomowe Magazyny Energii’ (Home Energy Storage). With a total budget of 1 billion PLN sourced from the Modernization Fund, the initiative aims to support households that already possess renewable energy micro-installations.

Eligible participants can receive up to 19,000 PLN in total support for the purchase and installation of electrical energy storage, heat storage, or necessary hybrid inverters. The amount of funding depends on the prosumer's settlement system: up to 16,000 PLN for those on net-billing and up to 8,000 PLN for those on net-metering. Additionally, a premium of up to 2,000 PLN is available for equipment manufactured within the European Union.

To qualify, energy storage units must have a nominal capacity of at least 10 kWh and must be at least twice the peak power of the existing photovoltaic installation. The program also requires the use of an Energy Management System (EMS) and islanding capabilities to ensure power supply during grid outages. Applications are open from October 20, 2026, until October 1, 2027, or until funds are exhausted.
