Poland advances major railway infrastructure and station modernization projects

Major railway infrastructure projects are underway in Poland to modernize regional and international connections. In Zebrzydowice, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. is constructing a massive steel-and-concrete bridge as part of the Zabrzeg – Zebrzydowice route modernization. The bridge will be over 600 meters long with 15 spans and is designed to improve rail traffic between the Czech Republic and southern Polish cities like Katowice and Bielsko-Biała. The total value of the Zabrzeg – Zebrzydowice modernization project is 1.7 billion PLN, supported by European Union funding through the Connecting Europe Facility.

In Augustów, administrative permission has been granted to begin the reconstruction and modernization of the historic PKP station. The project aims to preserve the building's architectural heritage while introducing modern functionality. The planned schedule includes a tender announcement in October 2026, with construction expected to begin in January 2027 and reach completion by October 2027.
