Poland Pushes Forward Major Road, Rail and Public Transport Projects

The Polish government has raised the national road construction budget from 107 billion to 135 billion zlotys, earmarking funds for projects such as the Fajsławice bypass, slated for completion between 2023 and 2025. Lawmaker Robert Dowhan of the KO party submitted an interpellation to the Minister of Infrastructure, labeling speed‑bump installations "absurd," while road‑safety expert Łukasz Zboralski defended their safety role.

Regional authorities met to plan new public‑transport network schemes, targeting a draft deadline of 15 October 2026 to allow early tendering before legislation is finalized. In the Lower Silesian region, representatives of local governments and PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe discussed modernization of railway line 273, line 14, and a prospective connection to Polkowice.

The national rail strategy aims to invest 610 billion zlotys by 2050, with billions already allocated to projects in Pomerania, including line upgrades and a new link to a planned nuclear power plant. The Warsaw‑based Central Communication Port (CPK) will be served by an extension of the Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (WKD) linking Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska station to the new airport. A massive underground railway hub, featuring a 1.6 million m³ hall and a 6 km tunnel, is scheduled to begin construction in late 2027.
