Poland advances third LNG regasification terminal to boost gas imports

Poland is proceeding with the construction of its third LNG regasification terminal, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU‑2) to be sited in the Gdańsk Bay. Following an open‑season process, GAZ‑SYSTEM allocated regasification capacity to four market participants, contracting 47 annual slots for 2030‑2039 and 35 slots for 2040‑2044, covering about 74% of the terminal’s 58‑slot capacity. The terminal’s design capacity has been raised from 4.5 bcm to 6.1 bcm of gas per year, contributing to a total Polish LNG regasification capacity of roughly 20 bcm annually once FSRU‑1, FSRU‑2 and the on‑shore terminal in Świnoujście are operational. Construction of the marine and on‑shore infrastructure is slated for completion in 2029, with regasification to begin in 2030, positioning Poland as a regional gas hub.

Enea Trading, part of the Enea Group, signed agreements with GAZ‑SYSTEM granting it seven regasification slots at FSRU‑2 for a 15‑year period starting in 2030. The contracts are valued at about 1.23 billion zł, underscoring the company’s aim to diversify gas supplies and enhance energy‑security flexibility for its customers and the broader Central‑Eastern European market.
