Poland advocates for stricter EU migration and border security policies

Polish officials are advocating for stricter European Union migration policies and enhanced border security. During a migration summit in Munich, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński argued that the current EU migration pact does not address contemporary challenges. He called for more effective protection of external EU borders and streamlined return procedures, presenting Poland's methods for managing the border with Belarus—including the temporary suspension of international protection applications under hybrid pressure—as a potential model for Europe.

In a separate domestic context, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak criticized current migration trends, arguing that Poland should focus on productivity and automation rather than relying on low-wage imported labor. Bosak advocated for a new EU interpretation of protection laws to deny asylum to those who cross borders illegally in organized groups or use violence to bypass security measures. Discussions regarding these regulatory changes are expected to take place at the EU level in October.
